Building an Off-Road Buggy |

To introduce our Scouts to the workings of the internal combustion engine, Hadleigh Sea Scouts have secured some resources to design, build and race (time trials!) off road buggies. We will be forming teams of five Scouts and Explorers to undertake this task over the Autumn and early Winter probably involving around 4 weekends building time. The Teams will also be involved in developing the health and safety regulations, designing the course and other related activities. Would your Group be interested in joining in? For this first go at Buggy Building we would be delighted to invite 2 more teams to get involved in building a Kart. If interested, you would have to be willing to fund (or supply) raw materials (Steel, Wheels, Engine, Gearing, Crash Helmet, Overalls) which would be in the region of £100 - £200. We'll offer engineering advice and guidance, welding and other equipment, space to build. You'll end up with a bunch of experienced engineers and a Group Kart which you can take back with you (Note: you'll have to think about on-going insurance implications).
